I Want to be on TOWS
Yet again, just on the jock! I really really want to be a guest on the Oprah Winfrey Show. Anyway, my goal is to sign up to as many shows as possible. Any topic will do. Hopefully, I will be the most frequent applicant and the casting crew will get tired of seeing my applications over and over again and just give me that special opportunity to meet Oprah in person. I want to be like Tom Cruise and jump on her couch. I want to be like her best friend Gail and go whereever she goes for FREE! I want to be a part of her audience when she gives away cars and expensive gifts! I want to train with Bob Greene to lose weight AND keep it off. I want her to help me make a successful financial plan for 2009. I want to get a free makeover so I can look HOT! I want to have a one on one session with Dr. Berman.
I want to write a letter to her, too. I want to tell her that she needs to change her time slot so that the women that actually have a job can watch her. How come stay at home moms and retirees get to watch all the good stuff. They already have the Regis & Kelly Show! Not to mention them soap operas that are like on every channel from 11am - 3pm. C'mon Harpo Productions....for me?

Library Evolution
A couple days ago, I visited the San Mateo Public Library for the very first time. My first visit was quick. I was dropping EJ off there to do his homework and report on Native Americans. The library consists of three floors. Automatically, I thought luxurious. Only because I was comparing it to my childhood library: Daly City Public Library at Gellert Park. Inside San Mateo Public Library, I was in complete Ah! This place is ridiculously insane.
I made it a point to stop by the next day and get a complete tour of the library for myself. It has been more than a decade since I've been inside of a library. It's been since Middle school since I actually studied (or at least attempted to) inside a library. I dropped EJ off once again after school. Once I got off work, I headed to the lovely library. A few things I observed:
- A bunch of computers!
- Self Checkout stands
- Automatic Book Drop Box
- Cafe on the 3rd Floor
- A lot of lounge chairs
- A lot of laptop ready desks
One thing I was totally baffled about was the Cafe. It was located literally INSIDE the library. Is that allowed? I thought people aren't allowed to bring food or drinks into the building? Anyway, EJ and I were kind of hungry and craving a snack. We took the elevator up to the cafe and ordered 2 Cup O'Noodles. I asked the cashier, "Is it OK to eat inside?". She replies, "Yes, you can eat anywhere in the library." "Thank you", I said. But inside I was like dieing!! What?! People are allowed to eat INSIDE the library now? That was unheard of in my childhood years! I had a huge grin on my face. YAY! I can eat inside. I still can't believe it. Back in the day, we'd have to sneak in our chips and soda in our backpacks or else we'd get kicked out. Talk about ghetto, right? Man, kids these days are terribly spoiled. If they only knew the stuff we went through when we were their age. [sigh]
So with me all amazed and all, my goal is to get a library card. Tabo List Item #4! For all of you reading, it must be simple and easy, right? Not for me. I'm too scared. Have you ever received delinquent notices from a library for an un-returned book? I have. I have a feeling I'm still banned from any library located in the San Mateo County. Call me crazy, but you never know!!! But back in the day, probably when I was in 4th grade one of the twins, Ling borrowed my library card to check out Madonna's biography. I should have never trusted her with my library card. I had a good clean record!! I always turned in my books on time. Anyway, months went by. I assumed that she would turn it in. Nope! I get a little postcard in the mail stating that I never turned in the book. Now, this book was a hardcover, with thick white pages, colored photographs and huge! I'm thinking great! This book must be expensive. I contacted Ling and she said she turned it in. I know she was lieing. I would pray and hope that the library would just forget about it and do without Madonna's book. My prayers were not answered. Every month, I'd get a friendly postcard from the library. And every month, the late fee would accumulate! It was to the point where I actually got a bill to pay for the damn book plus late fees and interest. The bill was over $300! Insane, right? I wanted to cry. I was too scared to tell my mom or dad about it. So every day from 4th to 5th grade, I would beat my parents to the mailbox. If a notice came from the library, I'd tear it up and toss in the garbage.
So there, that's my history with Daly City Public Library. I wonder if I'm still in their system. I wonder if I can once again apply for a library card. Probably not. I'm probably just over-reacting with all this. But dude you don't understand. $300 is alot of money for a freakin 4th grader! I was traumatized! You also have to understand it was hard to suppress this inner guilt I had inside. Just think this was a decade long fear of mine. It was blocked from my train of thought which helped me forget. But ever since my visit to the library this week, my mind all of a sudden triggered this fear and is now resurfaced. It's an unsettling feeling deep down inside. It's very hard to describe. I guess you can say that I have librarycardphobia. It's a stupid fear. As a youngin, I thought I'd get arrested if a librarian recognized me as the girl that never turned in the damn Madonna book. No wonder why I hate Madonna...it was probably because of this whole incident. Who knows... One day I might just be brave enough to do it. It's easier said than done though. Until then, library card will just be Item #4 on my list.

No Tabo List Updates since March
Sucks. I was updating my blog last night and this morning it just dawned on me. It's been a while since I've accomplished anything on my list. I believe since April. Wow, how time flies. So today, while I'm at EJ's baseball game against All Souls, it will be a time of ponder and reflection. What should be my next item to cross off my list? Shall I do an easy one and battle a friend on an evil and highly competitive sport of bus surfing? Or shall I start looking for a man to grow hella old with? LOL (yeah right) Hmmm, how about obtaining my goal of Abs of Steel? I do have a Hawaii trip coming up in about a month. It would be great to finally wear that teal monokini! We'll just see!

Friday the 13th
It's Friday the 13th ya'll. So far, so good. I woke up late this morning by a wet pillow containing some fresh drool. Wow! It's been a while since that happened! NO worries. EJ is with his dad. That means I can take my sweet time getting ready for work - YAY. I shaved in the shower...no cuts and no more stubs - YAY! Done getting ready. Hit the road. No road rage was in plain sight - YAY! I got my favorite Jamba Juice: Chunky Strawberry with fiber boost. They made it right - YAY!
Guess what? I'm taking my first martial arts class today. Kenpo to be exact. I'm officially part of the United Studios of Self Defense team in Foster City - YAY! My first class as a white belt (so moded) is this afternoon at 3pm. I can't wait to do my point blocks and half moon steps. I joined martial arts for 2 simple reasons: 1.) I was jealous of seeing my son, EJ have so much fun 2.) I want to spar! Hopefully, this November I'll be able to compete in a sparring tournament.
So tonight is my friend Roland's party: MADE YOU LOOK @ 111 Minna Gallery in San Francisco. I'm going to be performing my most biggest irk to support his party theme. That's right people. I'm going to rock some Kanye West shades up in the club. Hopefully being the clutz I am, I won't bump into someone and spill their drink. If so, I apologize person in advance.
Happy Friday the 13th Everyone. I hope you are enjoying your day as much as I am.

SOUTH BEACH diet

K, I'm supposedly still at a plateau. WTF?! I swear I want to beat someone up. So I'm taking this diet thing to the next level. I have exactly 21 days left to lose 10 more lbs so I'm going to start the South Beach Diet 2-week Quickstart Plan. LOL!
I was buying my lunch at Safeway a couple days ago and as usual, I start browsing the magazine stand at the check-out counter. A bright blue pamphlet caught my attention and said to me...'Buy me! Buy me!' So I did!
I'll start tomorrow since I have to go the grocery store and buy a whole crap of boring food w/no sugar or carbs. Sucks!! This is my last resort! THIS BETTER WORK!

STRIPPER Shoes!?! You're Killing Me!
Still trippin' off the fact that MV photography wants me to wear extra HIGH heels. WHAAAT! OMG! LOL. I called Tal B. a couple days ago. I told her that I was gonna go shoe shopping for the shoot and asked her what outfits she has lined up for me so I can try to find 'cute' shoes for the shoot. All I can say...it's anything but 'cute'! She texts me:
Hot Stuff only, therefore high heels (very high!). Black, gold, silver...no flat shoes!! LOL
(UPDATE: I ended up getting some very BCBGirl 'Mori' Peep Toe Mary Janes - very classy!!!)
Hot Stuff only, therefore high heels (very high!). Black, gold, silver...no flat shoes!! LOL

25 more DAYS!
Now seriously, my nerves are like hella hella kickin' in now. Like HELL TO THE AAAAAAAH! I just got off the phone with Tal B. I called because I wanted to ask her if it was cool just to bring my own wardrobe so I don't have to worry about anything not fitting me when I get there. DUDE - I still have to lose 10 more pounds. She told me not to trip. Maybe I'm trippin' because I got my period today. Ugh! So, I guess I will not buy outfits for myself. I'm going to trust what she has lined up for me. PLEASE FIT, CLOTHES. PLEASE FIT!!!

Nerves Kickin' In...
So, looks like I have 32 days until the big day! I've reached a plateau with my whole diet and fitness routine. I'm kind of sad. =( Hopefully, my body will start kickin' it up a notch these next few days. I need 10 more lbs. to lose. I'm starting to do major ab exercises. My trainer advised to do 12 minutes straight of different exercises every day. I hope it works. It's too bad, I can't program my body to specifically burn the fat off a certain area of my body.

My Three Different Looks

So, I've chosen (3) different looks for my upcoming photo-shoot:
- #1: 40s/50s pin-up girl - corset and all...
- #2: Maxim type look (recommended by Michael Vincent). It has to be tasteful, not trashy.
- #3: Plain Tomboy: I like wearing mens clothes, so I figure bust out some old school striped tube socks and a wife-beater. I'm actually also thinking of sporting a Donovan McNabb football jersey for all them haters...hahah! That or a San Francisco 49ers one to rep the Bay Area.
My ideas may change...but we'll see.

Working on My Weight Loss
So far, I've lost about 5 lbs. Only 15 lbs. to go!! I've been attending Bootcamp SF for about 3 weeks now. Pretty impressed with my results so far. Now that I think of it, I should have taken a "Before" picture of me. Oh well!!
Finally, booked my hotel stay for L.A. I decided to bring my younger sister, Ryree with me for moral support. I joked with her and said I'll be Vanessa Simmons and she can be Angela Simmons for the day. I guess you won't get it unless you watched the episode of 'Run's House' on MTV when Vanessa posed for FHM. hehe! We'll be staying at the Tower Beverly Hills hotel. I'm so excited. We'll be living the 'Hills' life for a couple days. Hmm, I wonder if we'll see Lauren Conrad, Heidi Montag, or Audrina Patridge. Ryree and I will be planning on visiting some of the reality show's popular landmark like, Le Deux, Geisha House. And of course, we'll definitely swing by Rodeo Drive and the famous Hollywood Hills!
My focus right now is working out and eating right. I need to look decent for this special event.

The Phone Call
OMG! So I'm on the computer and then I get a call from an unknown number on my cell phone with an area code 310. I knew it was L.A. because I used to work with people down south at my prior company. I didn't answer it. I hate it when I don't know who it is. I sat there hoping that they'd leave a voice mail. A minute later, I get a voice mail notification. I listened to it right away. It was some chick named Tal B. She got my inquiry and wanted to speak with me about doing a photo shoot! WHAAAAAT?! I was sitting in my sister's room while listening to her message. My heart was beating so fast! I kept my excitement all to myself. But if you knew me, that wouldn't last very long. I had a hard time keeping a straight face and just started giggling. My sister then kept on questioning me - "Who was it that called?" I didn't want to tell her. I kept telling her, she'll find out eventually. I went to my room to call Tal B back. I was so nervous. She answered and sounded so sweet. Basically, her and Michael saw my inquiry and looked at my myspace profile. They were interested in working with me. I, of course agreed and told her I'm so excited to do this. She explained the whole process and the different looks they want me to do. My favorite was a 40s pin-up model. That was sooooooo me!! I love that era! Second look was a Maxim look. WHHHAAAT?! They must have been psychic! HELLO! That's my dream! LOL! So she explained to me that I would get the entire package: Full wardrobe, make-up, and hair! YAY! So excited! Too excited that I went ahead and scheduled my first ever photo shoot. You ready? MARCH 8TH!! Yippeee!! So the diet officially begins....NOW! Thank goodness I signed up for Bootcamp SF, which btw starts tomorrow! Coincidence, you think? So weird! What a way to kick off 2008, I tell yah. Whew! The countdown to my first professional photo shoot begins...

2008 New Year's Resolution
So I was thinking of what my New Year's resolution is going to be for 2008. I know, I know...losing weight is such a cliche' but hey! I've been complaining about my self image for quite a while. Hmmm let's say for the past 9 years!! I've been dealing with this weight roller coaster on and off. So, I'm finally going to do it since this year is when I finally turn the big 3-0. Booooo! I've been looking to join a Bootcamp fitness club....still debating. I figure this 6 week program in San Francisco could be a big jump start for my weight loss and getting fit! I've also thought of my reward for my weight loss. That's if I accomplish it this year. I've always wanted to feel pretty and like a 'lil superstar. Sad to say, one of my all time dreams is to one day become a Maxim Girl. I'm serious!! Yeah, yeah laugh all you want. Everyone has dreams, even impossible ones. Never say never, right? So, I just sent an email inquiry to this photography online to become an MV model. MV stands for Michael Vincent. I heard about him about 5 years ago when he still lived in the Bay. My friend, Donna did a photo shoot with him and he did a pretty good job on her. Every so often, I'd browse his website and think to myself - I wanna be one of these girls. So I did it! I wonder if they'll call me. It's worth a try. We'll see...
